Accreditation & Program Administrators Committee

  • Develop accreditation standards, regulations, and guidelines to strengthen Academic Global Surgery Programs

  • Serve as a forum for the Program Administration community to share challenges, align best practices, and communicate operational needs

Advocacy

  • Publish conference equity consensus statement which summarizes core barriers and proposes recommendations and identify targets
     

  • Serve as a resource for members who seek to engage in advocacy work especially as it pertains to development of programs in academic global surgery

Congress Committee

  • Plan and oversee the Academic Global Surgery Congress and meetings, including educational content and agenda coordination
     

  • Collaborate with other committees to deliver and share meeting content with the global membership

Education Committee

  • Assist in the development and promotion of equitable global educational programs, curricula, and learner engagement in academic partnerships

Ethics Committee

  • Address issues of equity, human rights, and welfare in academic and clinical practice, sharing guidance with the membership

  • Serve as both an internal ethics advisor and an external body establishing codes of conduct for research and clinical work

Finance Committee

  • Audit financial policies, annual budgets, and reports in collaboration with the Treasurer to ensure transparency and accountability

  • Identify funding opportunities to support global surgery partnerships, scholarships and exchange 

  • Review applications for scholarships and research grants

Membership Committee

  • Evaluate and approve membership applications, manages recruitment and retention, and sets the dues structure

  • Ensure equitable representation and inclusion across all committees and organizational activities

  • Monitor and strengthen the organization’s focus on creating meaningful value for members and advancing Academic Global Surgery programs

Public Relations Committee

  • Manage the Association’s website, global opportunity map, and social media presence to promote visibility and engagement

  • Explore emerging technologies to enhance communication and advance the Association’s mission​​

Research and Quality

  • Develop Guidelines for the Ethical Conduct of Global Surgery research as an academic output
     

  • Continue bimonthly global surgery and quality symposiums
